With the bars titled down a bit. No bar-end shifter capability there, so
what I do is IRD stem mount shifters. Then my Bosco is free and clear for
much hand comfort. I'll try to find a photo later.

I was building a bike to donate to a charity auction, a sort of beach cruiser

you have compared the bullmoose version with the non-bullmoose version.
Obviously, the bullmoose locks you into a particular stem and particular
reach. Anybody tried the wide bosco bars in the two different versions?
I have both, but not the newly announced 52.
I love the looks of the Bullmoose version and find that the 12cm built-in
stem is pretty much perfect. However, on my Hunqapillar, which had the 58
Bullmoose Bosco bars, I now prefer the 55. I've been using them with a 12cm

Those knobs do look the businesses but they are hard to find in the USA,
as far as I can see. Like alot of rando and trekking stuff I see they are
bountiful across the pond though.

Hi guys, been reading the bosco threads and have had a lingering question.
in marc's picture where he puts the bosco on top of the albatross bar, you
can see that to get the same back hand position he'd need a much longer
stem. so for the folks using this bar, did you get a longer stem to
The 10cm stem that I started with is okay but feels confining in slow sharp
turns (the close-maneuvering tactical kind). I intend to switch to a 12cm
stem. I expect that'll probably make the bars even more comfortable in
general.
If I were using bar-end shifters, I'd probably try a 13cm or
Minh,
Speaking for myself, I went with Grant's complete recommendation by
choosing the Bullmoose version. I can only say that on my 58 Hunqapillar it
puts the ends of the bars in a perfect place as it allows me to be fully
upright and relaxed. I believe they are meant to be closer to you than the
BTW, I use downtube shifters now and agree that barend shifters might not
be so advisable on the Bosco bars. As they are, I get no interferences on
tight turns unless I'm straddling the top tube and standing on my feet and
need to turn the handlebars sharply. Then again, I'm pretty hefty.

Peter,
I lean on the knobs I added just as you might with brake hoods on a
roadie. The only significant difference is that you can position them
where you want on the slope without worrying about a braking position. My
upper body weight ends up resting on the fleshy part of my hand

I like 'em bare but have considered covering them as well. Is there a
particular brand of leather you'd use?
I've used VO's Elkhide on another bar, which is definitely a good value but,
though treated, isn't perfectly beautiful after significant sun rain. (My
commute means parking outside.)
That is a nifty Bosco set-up, Marc, with the extra brake levers near the
stem and the Dia-Compe antler

The knobs provide a position which takes the palm and edges of the palm out
of contact. So, all those sensitive nerve endings which cause numbness are
not affected. I rode 62 miles the first day with complete comfort.

Indeed, it's a week to Chicago. Maybe longer, with all the Bosco madness.
I have placed my order, though, and expect to be riding with them next weekend
at the latest!
I confess I am less enthused about the Bosco's looks than I am about, say,
well, every other bar RBW has sold to my knowledge.
I'm pretty sure that's a trick of the camera lens (wide angle), and that
those are two photos of the same bar.

I think that's just keystone effect. You can see it too in pictures of the
moustache and Mark's bars (to a varying degree).

Makes sense, the point about wide-angle lens. If there's some moderate
flare, as Grant noted, then the front view would tend to minimize that
flare (might look more parallel) and the rear view would exaggerate that
flare. Physics is phun!

I saw the new Bosco bars on the RBW site... the pictures give the
impression that some of the bars have parallel grips, and some have
wide flared grips. Is this just a trick of the camera lens? Same
effect can be seen for both the standard bars, and the bullmoose bars.
Maybe the pictures are a
Well they do come in different witdths, 55cm and 58cm so that may explain
why they look different. Anyone have any conjecture as to whether these

I remember talk of different test models of the Bosco. There were 3 or 4
of 'em, if I recall correctly, so would suspect the differences have to do
with that design evloution.
