I had my opinion on this formed a very long time ago - almost 50 years at this point. Schwinn Varsity Sports had black tires. The nicer Schwinn Continentals and Super Sports had tan sidewall "Puff Gumwall" tires. The nice Vittoria silk sew-ups had tan sidewalls and the cheap Wolber sew-ups
