You
Right, because the action of the water shows the video is being played
backwards. Because of that, all motions you see in the video were
actually their reverse in real (non-fun workplace) life.

I meant my workplace doesn't appear to be as fun as life at RBW, haha.

OK, here's a real brain-tweaker. A retro-direct bike cannot be rolled
backwards under any circumstance. You have to pick up the rear wheel
to back up the bike. Wrap your head around that.

Man, I love this video. I've never heard of a retro-direct drive

I've also never been particularly excited about single speed bikes
since I moved up to geared ones when I was a teenager, but the
mechanic/engineer side of me is fascinated by this retro-direct drive.

I saw these being used in one of the youtube videos on this. This is a

for the cheapest route, why not match chain differences between the two
front chainrings across a typical cassette? then you wouldn't need to do
much other than wrap the chain and maybe replace the unused cogs with
spacers.

maybe i'm missing something, but
Either you're missing something or I'm missing what you are saying.
The key for retro direct is that there have to be two independent
freewheel mechanisms because when one is driving the wheel, the other
one is freewheeling backwards. You can't just use two cogs on one
cassette, because that

Whoa, that is cool!
At first I thought that he was just coasting with a freewheel and
backpedaling in a uniform motion to make it appear that he was
pedaling forward when the video was played backward. But then, if you
pause the video at 0:26, you can see that the chain appears to make a
figure
I just looked up retro-direct as I have never heard of it before, and
that makes perfect sense now. Thanks for the knowledge.

Hence the four times through. It looks like the chain makes a figure
eight, so pedaling backwards drives it forward, I imagine the machine
was the genesis of the idea.
I think it's really well done, with lots of cool details. I didn't
even see the guy pouring water the first time. I'm totally
man. now i want a retro-direct SimpleOne.
