Oddly the Ducks are in town playing our baseball Rainbows (for the record
we've won two of the three games so far, one more tomorrow). I got a big
laugh when I read your post because they are a bit gaudy, though I suspect
the real inspiration lies a bit closer to Walnut Creek.

For stubby bill caps,
I don't have strong opinions on the WSSS (worst selling superstars),
but it's funny how divisive they can be! Of all of those, I think of
the splats and windshield as the two items that would most fit a need
for me, and I've been tempted to buy them for a while now. Maybe next

I had a hostile reaction to the brand-v label on the handlebar bag--
proceeded to quickly butcher it off upon arrival and effed up the
stitching on the scotchlite strip as a result. Put a dab of shoe goo
on the separated spot and it's fine, but yeah that really is a crappy
looking label (unless
I'm throwing the splats into the mix of butt-ugly stuff. I'm already ugly but
those things however well they work just look like some prototype high-school
kids' project. IMHO, YMMV.

Just to be clear, I don't think any of these products are butt ugly,
though the splats won't win a beauty contest. But I do believe that
they are functional and produced to keep costs down and durability
high (simple shapes, few seams). While I like things that are actually
good-looking, I
I will third the cotton stubby hat. I throw it in a bag for
emergencies, like sun/rain/bugs in my eyes. Keeps the sun off my
'solar sex panel' (John Hiatt lyrics). Great even for those spring-
like ski days. Other Riv hats just don't fit my 7 3/4 head.
And I love my Brand V Grab Sack. Its my man
drab olive foot-apron - Bikesnob NYC.

You know, I'll just put up w/ pink, wrinkly feet. With all the
attention that's paid by us in the Riv community to walking into a
coffee shop wearing lycra But who in their right mind would wear
those things intoanywhere.

i can deal with the horrendous fashion component of the splats, but
man am I bummed about dropping a benny on the rubber rain tent. I
forgot that I live in the SE and wearing it in temps over 42 degrees
will result in more wetness than nuthin at all. clown pants and a
black rainjacket is as goofy

For stubby bill caps, nothing comes close to my Filson waxed cotton
cap.
As to other items -
But that's just the deal, they go on and off with such ease that you
can remove them when in 'public'.
Beside walking around in Splats is not worse than doing the duck walk
in cleated racing road shoes.
The public already know that bicyclers are a weird lot.

Looked at the list and thought I'd buy any of those except... that
wind shield...ugh. I think this has been thought of before and it's
called a vest. Vests are cool. That wind shield is dork plus ugly. I
can handle dork and I can handle ugly, however, both is a tough pill
to swallow..though
