[RBW] 59 vs. 52 Clem L
6'5" -- I'll still be using an upright bar, but nothing as extreme as the Bosco. I'll make my final decision when I see the geo numbers for the 64. Jay, i dont recall how tall you are, but i'd be careful regarding that logic, if your goal is to not have an upright position. If you are between sizes, the longer top tube will almost certainly force you to use reach-back bars like boscos. Those put you quite upright on their own. Then, add in the taller head tube/stack height, and the effect is compounded. My 59 clem H is just slightly too big for me at 6'-2" ish, and i had to go to great lengths to get my bars low enough (longest available negative-rise technomic stem, slammed almost to bottom of extension, and bars rotated well downward.) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. I have recently put my name on the list for a Clem 64 L, which will be available in the fall. Originally I ordered a 59, but I wanted to double-check the sizing. In an email exchange, Grant told me that most people will fit two sizes of Clem, which makes sense to me. I don't love church-pew uprightness (uprighteousness?) on bikes, so I opted for the longer bike. My wife has the 52 Clementine and I am very happy riding it at 6'/89-90pbh... It's a very versatile size, probably fits 80% of the adult population. I don't understand wesleya, close to what ? Your top tub clearance doesn't matter on the -L , so it's all about your reach and bar height and your choice of bars. I cannot imagine a 52 would suit anyone of your height. I like the idea of the Clem frames, but not a fan of the limited size choices and the huge jump between sizes. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Re: [RBW] 59 vs. 52 Clem L
I think Joe's right about choosing on the basis of the effective top tube. I've got a 59 clementine set up for a child front seat w stock boscobars and i use a lugged nitto seatpost pushed all the way back. 6'2" but c a shorter pbh of 88-89. I'd think the larger size would work better, but I'm sure it'll work either way. My comparison won't be exact, but maybe it can help you think about it. I was in range but on the taller end of a Clem H and it ended up being to cramped with Choco-Moose and Albatross bars..it *definitely* wouldn't have worked with Boscos. Later I rode a 52 H with Boscos at RBW and it was great. I have a 52 Clem L on order now. So my advice - especially considering stepover isn't an issue on L models - is to check the virtual toptube lengths and buy the biggest Clem you think you can ride, especially if you're doing a complete with the stock Bosco Bars. Those babies reach WAY back. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. I'm on the fence. I can build up a 59 Clem L, but for a 52 I'd need to spring for the wheels. I'm 5' 10", 84 stand over, so I'm close.
