Re: [RBW] FS - Riv'd Burley Tandem
Hi Jim, Yes 135mm rear spacing for the original 27 1/4" wheelset that I replaced with 700c. The canti studs and original Diacompe canti brakes accommodated the swap. Thankfully shipping was avoided, an out of town buyer had an in town relative, so I dropped off the bike Sunday just a couple miles from my home. Shipping cost and worse - the breaking down the bike and packaging would have been a mess. I'm hoping to get my HHH built up this coming Sunday, can't wait! Re: [RBW] FS - Riv'd Burley Tandem
Off Topic random Tandem questions: Tony, it had 135 hubs in the back? My 94' Burley Duet has 140, and I stuffed a 145 in there when I had a new wheel built for modern Shimano drivetrain, could use the Shimano rear tandem hub that way. I would like an HHH also, but I would have to thin the herd quite a bit to afford it. What kind of shipping did you use? It was extremely expensive to ship the Burley when I bought it a few years back. Over $200. -Jim On Mon, Mar 19, 2018 at 7:49 AM, Tony DeFilippo wrote: > SOLD - definitely bittersweet packing up the Burley as it really is a fine > looking bike but I'm excited to be taking delivery of our new HHH and > getting that one built up shortly! > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "RBW Owners Bunch" group. > To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an > email to rbw-owners-bunch+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. > To post to this group, send email to rbw-owners-bunch@googlegroups.com. > Visit this group at https://groups.google.com/group/rbw-owners-bunch. > For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout. > -- -- signature goes here -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Re: [RBW] FS - Riv'd Burley Tandem
I'm a little bit interested in, but been lazy in putting my Rosco v.2 out on the market which would satisfy one-in-one-out... I'll get working on posting it this weekend, amongst some other bike workbench detritus and we'll see what fate has in store for the future. I think it was you who advised me, some years back on a Pondero ride, when I was grasping for the statement that is often made regarding tandems, that "wherever your relationship is going, it'll get there faster on a tandem." I've had good luck putting my kids on the back of my Bike Friday family tandem not so sure if I should push my luck on getting the wife involved, but that Burley looks like a good mojo machine. [RBW] FS - Riv'd Burley Tandem
I'm leaning toward snaping up one of the remaining HHH's and have this sweet ~1990's Burley I built up for C&O riding if love to get rid of. Some great parts and an solid oversized/ovalized MUSA steel frame. Burley Bossa Nova frame, true temper tubes, I've never been able to date it Sizing: Captain SO - 32" Captain TT - 22" Stoker SO - 29 3/4" Stoker TT - 26 1/2" Stoker reach to Max hbar extension - 16" Mustache hbars, rear is flipped, Nitto stems 3x8spd friction with SunTour bar end shifters (the stubby ones) Dia camp brakes (original) Phil wood hubs, rear 135mm cassette 700c wheels, originally spec'd for 27 1/4" Compass Barlow pass 35mm standard casing tires $750 local, not including the Brooks Flyer saddles, but including a set of new, not mounted berthoud fenders. If be happy to talk about the frame without some components, I've often thought the frame would be a great disc conversion and allow for 650b x48mm tires. I don't think shipping is a good option on this bike but I'd deliver the bike to a LBS for professional packing and shipping if the butter wanted to pay for that.
