Friends:
I am still wrestling with problems integrating a Sunny Island / Sunny Boy
AC coupled system to a set of 5 E-vault Max battery cabinets.
As a refresher, with closed loop comms, the Frequency Shift Power Control
system is not working, or not working quickly enough, and when nearing
Rewiring the array is not that hard. Why is he against that? With old
Jbox type modules, it usually is safer too, as those often were
paralleled at the modules, and often over loaded the connectors. It
would also increase his total power output by reducing line losses. I
think a careful
Sorry yes for clarification that he wants to parallel the INPUTS I am aware of
paralleling the outputs we do that all the time. Sorry for the confusion but
seems like the census now says NO on paralleling the 2 inputs from one array.

Yes, output not input. Thanks for clarifying that William...

I see no problem paralleling the Charge Controller outputs but I would not
parallel the inputs. With parallel inputs, unless there is protection to
prevent excessive current, there is a risk that one CC will take over and
try to regulate the entire array.
I suggest you divide up the
Andrew,
As long as you have proper over current and wire sizing, there shouldn't be
a problem with paralleling C60s. Of course, keeping the batteries at 12v
for a 2kw array makes everything else bigger and more expensive. And they
won't get the MPPT advantages of even 20 year old charge
Andrew - I've had no trouble running multiple Trace C-series PWM
controllers in parallel in the distant past. You just have to carefully
adjust (with a multimeter) the bulk/absorb/float/EQ pots of both units so
they don't interfere with each other and pull each other into the wrong
mode for
Hello Wrenches,
I have a client who has a large 2000 watt 12v array that he
said used to be hooked into an internal solar charger on his old trace. Never
seen a trace with one of those in it but he claims it could do 200a. This
internal charger has now died and needs a
When in doubt, swap it out.

Good Morning,
I wrote a couple weeks ago about a solar production issue for a small
residential offgrid system. The customer was saying her solar production
wasn't all that good and thought it should be charging their batteries
better. I had gone to the property and checked the array and
