If the subpanel is at the end if the feeder, and there are no taps in between
the main and the sub then I don't see any reason that the conductors need to be
any larger than 200 A as there is no where on the feeder conductors where grid
and PV current will be additive.

Thanks, I was thinking about using LBX, but the customer is really not too
excited about it. And based on the manual, Energy Management Mode seems
like it fits the bill, but it doesn't seem to be going back into
stand-alone/inverter mode when the timer is supossed to turn off.

We had the same request in NC by Duke Energy. The inverter mfg. says they can
do it but it'd be outside of the values on the label that the inverter is
listed to. I don't think Duke cares, but the AHJ may.

I believe the absorber plate and piping is aluminum, so a galvanic isolation
fitting - compression if you can find it - would allow you to transition to
copper pipe.
