Hi Jay,
I picked up a used McElroy 2LC butt welding set-up on Ebay for $600 a few
years ago and I love it. It has jaw insert adapters for different size
pipe and can work with 1/2" up to 2". Mine is an older version of this
brand new one on Ebay now:

Hi Allan,
All the solar contractors I've worked with in Africa use these Chinese
hydraulic crimpers. Yes the dies are metric and the ones I have used
did not have AWG equivalents marked on them, but I've always been able to

We are bidding on a project to provide several hundred small (75Wpv, 120AH

Africa. The project planners have requested that the systems be designed
and built to provide 7 years of battery life. That seems crazy
Check out the Wattmon http://wattmon.com for simple off-grid remote
system monitoring.
We have been impressed with the simplicity of it and the quality of the
data it produces. Of all the systems I have tried, this one is my favorite
so far. We are integrating it into our pre-wired off-grid

are often (usually?) not inspected, so maybe listing is not a
requirement... I'd love any advice or feedback you guys might have.
Thanks.

I agree that its impossible to maintain 3 points of contact on a ladder
while sliding a module up above you. I've done it many times but I agree
that its probably not kosher according to OSHA.
This reminds me of a product idea I had with a friend who does canvas
sewing for boat covers and such.
I like OmniGraffle

for 2D schematics and layout drawings on a Mac. and SketchUp is great for
