every instance there is a visible point where the impact occurred. Typically a
small radial pattern is around the impact point but then random patterns over

If you don't see any sign of impact, look closely at the area in front
of the junction box. Any discoloration is an indication that it has been
hot in that area. This often is the case with a shorted diode. The heat
will stress the glass and cause it to fracture or make it susceptible to
A few years ago there was a rash of this type module glass breakage caused
by flaws in the glass, that would not show up until a year's worth of
thermal cycling. I saw several of the non-frame glass only modules fail in
California sun. Without a frame they would curl-up into a U shape.
