So do the charge controller and amp hour meter communicate so they agree on
when the batteries are fully charged?

The kicker is the large startup, so you may need to use batteries with low
internal resistance, such as the Concorde AGM's. You will also have to make
sure your cables are good for the max current to avoid any voltage drop which
would cause a low voltage shutdown.
Aside from that, just go with
The function described by Todd was not present when I last evaluated the
Apollo unit...and that would represent a major upgrade. Apollo's amp hour
meter is much like the TriMetric...and I believe they have even licensed the
original technology. The Apollo/Tri-Metric also cannot automatically
Mark, you may wish to contact the engineers at Maxwell to see about adding
some ultracapacitors to a small battery bank. The caps would charge up
during idle times and be there to provide the kick when the item starts up.

I agree with Warren, the batterys have a big job to do here, If you have a 48
volt system the batteries will have to supply about 180 amps, this is a large
surge and your need to be large or fast the AGM are good for surge, flooded
would have to be larger (AH) to handle the same surge.
Esteemed wrenches,
I have been wrestling with this concept about as long as we have been in
business. How to estimate how much a pv system will reduce the demand charge
for a customer.
I know the worst case goes as follows:
(1) Demand is based on measuring the consumption every 15

Anyone know if there is a trade group or solar representation group that has
a website that lists:
Solar PV and Solar Thermal products that comply with the ARRA act, (American

Hi Peter
I have posted on same topic, not well written however. I have a customer now
that I am working with his load factor is 10% to 20%, I am hoping to do a
demand reduction. Also I have some data on past experiences dating back to
2003, I was trying to get Outback to help and they were
