Jeff,
I suggest high AC volts is the issues. The second inverter may not have the
same settings as the first. The voltage is already being pushed up by the first
inverter, maybe the second one is adjusted a little tighter. The SMA config
tool can show the settings.
Thank you,
Maverick
Jay,
You need to download Addendum to the Install Manual 976-0222-01-01 rev B and
perform the rewriting to 120Vac and install new software using the gateway or
System Configuration Tool using 120v software.
Let me know if you these off list and I can send them to you.
Thank you,
Maverick
Joel,
That is the fork in the road... To battery-backup or to Not Battery-backup...
That is question.
If you decide to battery-backup, then the SW is still sweet until it just dies.
Any day now...
You could switch to a Outback GVFX 3648 or XW 6048 and keep going
battery-backup.
If the fork
I have seen this pattern twice.
1. Lightning strike near the array. But the canals are bright white or deep
black. I have two of those panels for testing and they still work sorta.
2. A bad batch of EVA or an over-cooked batch of EVA during assembly perhaps.
Of course, the photo does not lend
I googled 600 volt switch dual throw and found a cutler-hammer DT363URK.

Not sure if it carries a DC rating all the way to 600v.

I agree that one SMA costs less than 24 M190s, but I get two main advantages,
1. individual monitoring of these old modules. (ok, two in string). Any
module that can fire up the inverter will report to the enlighten website.
2. Simple expansion of the system. 24 inverters will already be at
If you do not need a charger, Exeltech sp1100 or sp600.
If you do need a charger, magnum mms1012

Dick,
What are the customers goals? Battery backup works, but requires knowledge of
the customer's expectations (energy, power and flexibility). What is the budget
for the upgrades. Do they want more solar? They don't want battery maintenance,
will they want generator maintenance?
Ask these
Wow!
The most I have in one Outback install is 8 MX60s and 8 VFX3648s.
Overall the customer has been happy with the performance and the stacking power
save feature helps with idle power draw.
As for the OPs request, the most PV still remains to be about 5000 watts gross
power per controller
What is the battery size versus kw of PV?
Thank you,

I agree.
There is one Group X panel. The 72 cell mono. 24v nominal, 62.2 x 31.8 with
varying frame thickness. I use them for all grid interactive and off grid
systems. They are more ergonomic and higher voltage helps as well.
Conergy, Mage, suntech, astroenrgy, sharp, and many other make or
We used a big ol' fat square D HU361RB for the disco. Too bad Xantrex did not
have the forethought to build a SMA type fused segmenting disco. I even thought
about building one or buying the SMA type. So budget that extra expense.
Unfortunately, Xantrex also reserved the bottom of the chassis
I say it is waste of time.
1. AGM batteries can take the high current and you are right, the absorb
voltage is reached and the absorb current is tapered rather quickly. Current
generation charge controllers are rather fast at the transitions. I have a
bunch of data from a system with a
How about the Exeltech XP125?
We have used a few of those and of course many of the Morningstar units.

I’m using a Millermatic 212 on a single XW6048 with 16 each PVX3050 AGMs and a
1.4kw array.
It typically draws about 4kw to weld at setting 6 out of 10 (1/8” material
thickness) using 0.035 wire.
I also have a Spectrum 375 and you can not run them both at the same time with
only a 6kw
Looks like a mix of old and new Batteries in a cabinet too small to drain

sensor on charging source?
What size interconnect cables were used?
Was it a bus system?
Absorb with End Amps was turned on?

I hadn’t noticed, but I also hadn’t been cross checking. I can compare a couple
sites to see if it is happening here.
