First of all, my sincere thanks go out to the individuals who took the
time to reply back with answers to my last post about my kernel
compilation problem. I'm afraid though, that the problem I was hoping
that would be resolved by compiling is still persistent and need more
help.

I just tried to compile my kernel (kernel, kernel-headers and
kernel-source all being 2.0.34.i386.rpm) and I got as far as the make
clean part just fine after having used menuconfig and doing a "make dep".
But, when I tried "make boot" it immediately would just

kernel-headers-2.0.34-0.6 kernel-source-2.0.34-0.6 and attempted to
compile it and all goes well until the end of "make boot" when it gives

not able to compile the new kernel-see my previous post please) my NIC is

I just upgraded my kernel from 3.0.31 to 3.0.34. I was having problems
trying to compile it and after looking at the error message, it was
pointed out to me by Borek, who is on the list, that I needed to install

I've been able to use X as a non-root user just fine, and then just a few
days ago, it stopped working and now I can only use X as root. I'm
hoping some X gurus out there could help me out. This is the output when
I try do a "startx" as non-root:

ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/redhat-5.1/i386/RedHat/RPMS/ and I can't
find the "kernel-modules" rpm. There's the "kernel", "kernel-headers",
"kernel-sources", and even "kernel-pcmcia", but I don't see no
"kernel-modules". Why is that? Can I still compile the

already to that list and nobody got back to me, so please forgive me and

I've set up a user (steve) using usercfg, and when I log on as "steve", I
log on fine, but I can't issue useful commands, such as "pico" or "man".
