3com 10/100 card sort of works. see

aspc125.as.arizona.edu. i specified NFS install, gave chester as the
NFS server host, and /home/tim/redhat as the directory. worked like a
charm.

apparently it isn't necessarily that. FWIW, i haven't personally seen
this happen on any other machine with a PS/2 mouse, though most
machines i use heavily have serial mice.

boot from the redhat boot floppy by saying:
vmlinuz root=/dev/hdxx
at the boot: prompt where the xx is replaced by the appropriate letter
and number for your linux root partition.

the video card is always the big sticking point. matrox has become a
pretty safe bet and has the advantage of much better performance
across the board than the recent ATI cards i've seen.

problem. be sure you're using XFree86 and not metro-x. metro-x does
not support the CT chipsets like the one in the toshiba very well and
may be your problem.

as you're using it in basically 2.2.0
compatibility mode. i think that diald is probably still preferable
anyway if you want to demand dial.

Why is the sun
and st800 are the low-cost color printers of choice for linux.
i have not used them personally, though, and i don't know if they
support A3 size paper.
