Sound like a PURC unit. You have exciter at 450 mw out that goes into a tripler/low level amp that gives 2W out, that goes into the 75 watt amp which in turn drives the last stage. Not bing familiar with the model number, I would guesstimate the final out is around 350 watts. Dan N8DJP

Thanks for the Replies so far- I have found a little info on the unit. It appears to be a 225-250W 450-470 PURC amp. It is supposedly 20-25W in, but I have not found what PA would be the correct IPA. In the cabinet I found that the amp was bypassed, the unit was using the 75W pa as the final.

Tom, We have several of these 225 watt units in operation 440 MHz. The correct PA is the 20 watt unit. It looks identical to the 75 watt chassis, just has fewer circuit boards on the inside. Yes it is overkill for this much heatsink for 20 watts output power, but one needs to remember that

The 68P81014E15 Manual mentioned below is a supplement to the 68P81008E40 manual - you will need both for your radio. The 68P81008E40 for the basic radio and the 68P81014E15 for the wide-spaced assemblies. The 14E15 Manual is an interesting study in itself. Hope this helps,
