BTW the Kenwood 820 also makes a nice homebrew D-STAR repeater as

experienced issues with cross-talk between long runs of un-shielded balanced
audio lines. (inductive pickup??) I always wondered if the wires were truly
balanced when that happened.

Look at Daniels Electronics, too. They have some really nice machines, and are
less than Quantars. They also take up a lot less space than Quantars do, and

Our club has an issue with the phone line, that being money. Long story short,
can a cell phone be hooked up to a repeater, in place of having a phone line,
for use in controlling the machine?
