The CAT200 controller has neither macros nor a
scheduler, so it won't do anything with the weather
data unless a user asks it to, via DTMF. It can,
however, be programmed to send out specific messages
when a logic line changes state, and those messages
can contain verbiage from the weather station.
I don't believe that the CAT200 can't operate as a
repeater controller when a weather station is
attached. The manual makes no mention of that
condition and does tell you the things it CAN do once
the weather station is connected.
Best thing to do is contact CAT directly and ask them.
They've been extremely helpful when I've needed info.

The CAT 200 will interface with a Peet Brothers WX
station.
The problem is when you use the controller for the
WX station, all other
functionality is gone. It no longer functions as a
repeater controller. It
doesn't support any macros or scheduler, so you have
to rely on another
controller (or user) to send dtmf to it, such as a
weather report at the top
of the hour.
It might be nice to see the WX/Peet Brothers
function added to a more
upscale CAT controller.
If the machine is solid RF wise, you might
consider upgrading the
controller only.

Subject: Weather station and repeater
Hi,
I am the new repeater trustee for our club, the
Connecticut Valley FM
Association.
I am investigating a project to replace our aging
Spectrum repeater on top
of Mt. Ascutney,
here in Vermont. It's a very basic set-up, but is
showing it's age.
I would REALLY like to implement a weather reporting
feature, but have been
unable to find
any information. Davis instruments and Peet have not
been very helpful with
the nuts and
bolts of this proposal. They both say they have the
equipment, but no real
information.
The site is not accessible from Nov. 1 to about
April 1st. It is a
commercial site so we are
connected to their generator for emergency power. No
telephone connection.
ANY information, links, etc. would be greatly
appreciated. I've only had my
general ticket for
a couple of years and all this is new to me.
73 and Thanks!
