Client, the largest membership organization of its kind in the United States
with over 35 million members as well as the largest advocate for its
constituents, has an opening for a Java Developer. The platform consists of
a MVC framework using Struts, Hibernate and Spring Framework components.
We're looking to fill a contract position to start asap. Project will run
through end of the year with potential long-term opportunities for suitable
candidates.



Responsibilities

* Develop code to specifications of team lead and customer

* Produce high-quality code for applications



Qualifications

Must haves:

·   6+ years of J2EE experience

·   Proficient in Java, Struts, Spring 2.0

·   Experience with Spring Webflow is critical

·   Good understanding of MVC architecture

·   Experience working in a Scrum environment

·   Experience with JUnit or httpUnit or JWebUnit

·   Ability to optimize code for high performance

·   Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment
Excellent communication skills and ability to proactively come up with new
ideas

Bonuses:

·   BS in Computer Science

·   Experience with Spring, Hibernate, EJB 3.0

·   Experience using CVS and Ant

·   Experience using WebLogic and Oracle

·   Experience with the Eclipse development environment

·   Experience with any automated unit testing tool (such as TestNG) for
J2EE applications

Primary Job Responsibilities

   - Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software
   applications. Segment and design system layers to support component and
   layered application development, including user interface, business
   functionality, and database access.
   - Work with other engineers, managers, product managers, QA, and
   operation teams to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs with
   respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability while
   meeting realistic implementation schedules and adhering to development goals
   and principles.
   - Estimate engineering efforts, plan implementations, and rollout system
   changes.
   - Independently design, code and test major features, as well as work
   jointly with other team members to deliver complex changes.
   - Share release management duties during feature rollouts and  share
   on-call responsibilities.
   - Develop industry and product technical expertise.



Job Requirements

   - BS/BA in CS or related field.
   - 6+ years experience in requirements analysis, design, coding and unit
   testing of scalable, distributed, fault-tolerant applications in Windows or
   Linux development environments.
   - Project experience with Apache Tomcat or other J2EE application servers
   like IBM WebSphere or BEA WebLogic.
   - Must have experience developing high traffic customer-facing web
   applications, that interact with a database.
   - Must have expertise in object-oriented design methodology and
   application development in Java.
   - Must have working knowledge of HTTP, HTML, XML, Java, SQL, and working
   with relational databases, with a preference for Oracle experience.
   - Must have working knowledge of JSP or XSL or Velocity or Freemarker.
   - Prefer knowledge of CSS, Javascript, and a scripting language like
   bash, csh, php, python, or perl.
   - Proven results oriented person with a delivery focus in a high
   velocity, high quality environment.
