Volume Missing ... Please insert it and try again

2000-06-05 Thread Malcolm McLeary

Guys,

I have a strange little problem ...

I have a Linux server running SAMBA and I have been using Retrospect 5.1
to backup the share points. This was working fine. I've recently added
another share point and although the share is visible and accessible via
Network Neighborhood Restospect seems to have problems doing a backup ...
particularly via a scheduled script.

The error I get is;

Can't access volume Mail on Qube, error -1102 (drive missing/unavailable)

I have saved an appropriate username and password for the volume, and the
Retrospect Launcher is running with an appropriate username and password.
The problem is isolated to this one volume.

I can get the script to run manually, then the next automatic execution
will fail.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers, Malcolm

ASIP server crashing after each backup

2000-06-05 Thread rcash

I have been experiencing the same problem for over 3 months now. I have
two server both running OS 8.6 and ASIP 6.2 and each time they were
backed up I got -519 network communication error on which every server I

remotely backed up. I solved that issues by subdivided the script into
smaller chunks, I can successfully backup the remote servers that way
but after the backup runs and people start to log back on the ASIP
server crashes and I must reboot.
I am in the process of eliminating the files that are causing the
problem but with 40 GB of data that moves around it is not a small task.

I have ran Norton and Disk First Aid neither found any problems. I
recently received Disk Warrior, it didn't seem to find much. However, I
have not rebuilt the directory yet, because of time limitation and I'm a

little leery since the directory can't be duplicate because lack of HD
space. Anyone have any experience with Disk Warrior?

User licences not recycling

2000-06-05 Thread Owen Watson

I'm having problems recycling user licences.

I remove an unused license by going to the Clients list and choosing
Forget. . .

Then when I go to setting up a new client, and put in the old reg no,
it comes up about the licence being already in use.

Sounds like you're using the old Client Installer, Owen. You only have to
enter a password; there is no longer a request to enter an activator code.
All codes are now kept by the Retrospect host application. Be sure you're
using the 4.2 Mac or 5.1 Windows installers.

Current installers are available from our FTP site. Both downloads include
the Mac and Windows Client Installers -- just choose the one appropriate to
your OS.
