Problem starting backup on CD-R

We've built up a large Retrospect archive on to MO disks, but we'd like to switch to CD-R. I set up a test volume, but when I insert the blank CD to back up on to, retrospect doesn't recognise it. I've looked through the manual, and it says that volumes must be mounted on the desktop before Retros

I can assure you it works (or should). I've got 3 B&W G3-450s running Retro 4.2 with the ADK (1.6? 1.7?) that supports HP's DLT Library (autoloader). The libraries are attached to Adaptec PCI (duh!) PowerDomain 2940UWs. It works flawlessly, and has for about 8 months so far. I hav had a LOT of
