I'd rather not stick with the applet as I recently switched to gimmie
and this pastel coloured panel replacement does not support applets. But
it does contain a notification area which I'd like to target ...

recognize as such :-) What about removing the search entry of the

Hm, weird. I don't know of any SuSE packages, but you should be able to
install from source on most modern distros.
