Hello,
Thanks for your input,

Hello John,
It would indeed be great if the FSF could maintain a small cluster
of publicly accessible (not NATed) OpenDHT nodes,
ideally pointed to by DNS (something like opendht.gnu.org or dht.gnu.io would
be nice).
Running public, stable DHT nodes improves connectivity for Ring users,

Hi,
Those security concerns, mainly coming from a Tox developer, are mostly
unfounded IMO,
but it's always a good practice to exchange with the community and to explain
how Ring works.
I tried to answer the best I could in a reasonable length:

We work to make sure this won't happen again. When many blockchain nodes will
be ran by the community it won't even be possible for us or anyone to reset the
name directory.

Answer from Bill is right,
Note that it's now possible to import an "export.gz" file from the Gnome client

To clarify, Ring doesn't need a STUN server (the DHT is used for IP address

Yes, we use it internally at SFL with SIP (with an Asterisk server),
About security, Ring simply acts as a normal SIP client when using SIP

Hi Greg,
Regarding your second question,
Last year we introduced a DHT proxy feature, allowing to hide your device IP
from the distributed network.
You can use the free proxy that we provide (dhtproxy.jami.net), or configure
your own.
