Tom, as Lorenzo said, freedom comes at a price ;o) I think RG can do what you want easily (I have no vested interest btw). There is no need to mess up your established audio setup if you use the alsa layer only. Here's what I recommend: 1. Use fluidsynth standalone with alsa  ( -a alsa)
