OK, I'll try copying my reply to the list. Thanks for responding. I was
actually not expecting to find any kind of Windows version until I
happened on that one, so I'm not too surprised.

The Windows fork is pretty much a separate project, maintained by
Richard Bown. I think he has his own repository somewhere. As far as
I know, he hasn't done any work on it in years. What you see is
probably pretty much what you get.

I doubt this is going to change anytime soon.

Is there any other (prebuilt) RG for Windows that I ought to try?

Thanks!

I am using its close cousin, the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2

https://focusrite.com/en/usb-audio-interface/scarlett/scarlett-2i2

I'm not the most sophisticated or serious user. In fact, I need to get
back to doing more. But it's worked great for me, in my limited use.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for responding. I'm not particularly sophisticated either,
and I frequently have trouble getting these things to work.
I looked at the Solo and the 2i2 online and I actually couldn't
see what the difference was between them.

I'm assuming that the Focusrite plugs into the computer via
USB, is that what you're doing?

If you have any other comments on how you hook it up or use
it lemme know (sounds like you might not have used it in a while).

Anyway, thanks!

Re: [Rosegarden-user] How long have you been using Rosegarden?

2020-11-24 Thread Mike Witt
I've been "using" it for something like 10 years. Maybe a little more
or less. But my use has been *very* sporadic. I haven't "upgraded"
since ... let's see, looks like 13.06. Gee, I think that's about when I
got my current desktop.

Hmm...

Probably. The active components are usually hidden in the USB end.
It's like one of those microscopic flash drives that are so easy to
lose.

Anybody using one of these with Rosegarden? On Linux, hopefully?

I'm *not* using one, but some suggestions from researching these
things in the past:

1. The cheap ones probably aren't worth it. I wouldn't spend less
than $50.

2. They probably all work just fine with Linux. But to be safe, pick
a model and check the reviews on amazon to see if anyone's tested
that model with Linux. A google search might turn up something as
well. E.g. a google search on 'behringer ucg102 linux' turns up a
link on linuxmusicians.com that talks about that one and all of the
others working fine in Linux.

3. Consider getting one someplace you can return it easily (e.g.
brick-and-mortar) in case you can't find reviews indicating it will
work with Linux. Might not be easy in the time of coronavirus.

Ted.

Thanks Ted. I was hoping to hear from somebody with an endorsement of
something they're using with Rosegard. But barring that, I'll heed your
advice.

[Rosegarden-user] Searching/Downloading the mailing lists

2013-06-07 Thread Mike Witt
Does anyone know if there is a good way to either search the
Rosegarden mailing lists, or else to download them so I can search
them locally.

The only way I currently know how to find the list ends up
taking me to:

http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_name=rosegarden-user

If there's a search or download feature on this page, then somehow
I've just missed it.
