particular, for me, it crashes recent versions of vlc, but without any
obvious diagnostics.
But I find that get_iplayer makes the following complaints while
finalising a download:

Using rpmfusion and the akmod-nvidia package reduces the hassle
tremendously. Dnf update just works.

I've done the song and dance previously - I kept getting caught out
when the akmod-nvidia was a day or two behind kernel updates!
