Re: [RollTideFan] I wish CMS wouldn't curse.

2004-10-20 Thread JVWatts
As much as I agree with you and Lee on this oneya'll know as well as I
do that the days of players playing for a coach like The Great One are long
overNowadays we have to worry about their self asteem and shit

It's always been my belief that some people just need
the fuck slapped out of them occasionally. Say what you
will, but physical violence is the only language some
people comprehend. I know it always worked wonders with
 me!

As for CMS's motivational skills, I have to wonder if
that isn't yet another aspect of the job he's learning
on the fly. The reason I say that is I'm just not sure
how much motivation he was responsible for in the
positions he held in the NFL. He'd probably be surprised
at the results he'd get from just going ape-shit fuckin'
crazy every now and then. Damn all this buddy-buddy
shit. Any time you hear the term player's coach used,
it's bad news. John Hannah said the players from his era
played as hard as they did simply because they were
SCARED of Coach Bryant. Shula needs to put the fear of
God in coaches and players alike.

 In other words...IAWTP!

If CMS would grab a facemask and act angry at someone
after a bad play or blatant penalty incurred, he'd have
a much easier near future at the helm. He is too young
(makes me feel netter to say that) to emulate his daddy
on the sideline and plus, as we found out with Stallings
(or rather Stallings found out) motivating pro players
is vastly different than motivating college boys.

RE: [RollTideFan] Guillon

2004-10-20 Thread Joel Perry
The paper this morning said Gullion has two bulging discs in his back:

TUSCALOOSA - Alabama backup quarterback Marc Guillon said he was diagnosed
Tuesday with two bulging discs and a torn muscle in his lower back and that
he is in a lot of pain every time he throws a pass.

And if he was needed to replace starter Spencer Pennington, Guillon said
that the offense would be limited with him at quarterback.

When I throw, it feels like somebody has a knife stabbing me in the back,
Guillon said following practice Tuesday.

Guillon had a MRI on his back Monday and said doctors prescribed rest as the
best way to treat the injury. But that isn't convenient with four games and
a possible bowl still left to play.

We would probably be pretty limited in what we could do - real short passes
and just handing the ball off, Guillon said if he had to go into the game.

I could go in but I definitely wouldn't be Dan Marino, tearing it up.

Guillon said the back began bothering him when he got increased practice
time in the days leading up to his first start against Arkansas on Sept. 25.
He estimated that he was only at about 80 or 85 percent in his starts
against the Razorbacks and South Carolina.

I couldn't go out there and get the job done with the back that I had, he
said.

Tide to hire associate AD: Alabama is expected to hire a new associate
athletic director today and strong indications are that Troy AD Johnny
Williams will be named to the post.

The new position, created by athletic director Mal Moore, would oversee the
Tide Pride ticket program, the ticket office, marketing and the media
relations department.

A primary responsibility for the new hire will be the selling of the new sky
boxes in the expanded north end zone at the expanded Bryant-Denny Stadium,
which will begin in December.

Sources have also said that the hiring of the new associate AD is not a
first step in seeking a replacement for the 64-year-old Moore when he
retires.

Injury report: Alabama is looking to get a key defensive player back this
week while Tennessee seems likely to lose two key defenders.

Tide outside linebacker Juwan Garth - who has missed the last two games -
practiced Tuesday and coach Mike Shula said, We anticipate him playing this
week unless something changes.

I'm definitely playing this week, Garth said after practice.

Tide reserve defensive tackle Justin Britt (ankle) was in an orange jersey
for injured players and Shula said he was questionable to play.

Meanwhile, Tennessee has suspended safety Brandon Johnson, who leads the
Vols with two interceptions, after his arrest Monday on a felony firearm
charge.

And defensive tackle Jesse Mahelona, who has started all six games and is
tied for the team lead with three sacks, is listed as doubtful for the game
with a knee injury.

Shula said on Finebaum yesterday that Gullion is still having some trouble
with his back but if needed he could play. Shula said Gullion could have
played last week if needed too but they didn't need him, mainly because the
running game was so successful. Shula said their goal was to have a
balanced attack but I think it is obvious they are going to run the ball
first and only pass if necessary.

Has anyone heard what the status on Guillon is?

I hope that they let him and Pennington throw the ball a lot
this week just in case we need to this weekend.

Yesterday I drove the chillun's over to:

http://cootersplace.com/

While we we're checking the place out, a
twenty-something wearing a UT cap asked if I'd take a
picture of him and his girlfriend standing beside the
General Lee. I told him since BAMA was going to whup the
shit out of the Vols this weekend, taking a picture for
them was the least I could do. So he handed me the
camera and it's one of those antiques that uses film. I
was looking through the view finder as I backed up
enough to get the whole car in the picture when an evil
thought crossed my mind. The chic was wearing a t-shirt
and some awfully tight Levi's. I continue to act like
I'm lining up the shot just so-so, but the whole time
I'm zooming in on CAMEL-TOE! OK...on three...everyone
smile! ONE, TWO, THREE! CLICK! Nothing but pure
CAMEL-TOE! Just as I'm about to start toward the dude to
hand him the camera he says ONE MORE! NO PROBLEM! You
know the drill...on THREE! ONE, TWO, THREE! CLICK!
HOOTER'S BABY! NOTHING BUT RACK! I just wish I could be
there to see the look on their faces when they get the
pictures developed.

Right again Slef. If CMS had players up at 6am Sunday morning running the
stadium steps an hour for every penalty the commit during a game, they would
get their minds right (1$ to Cool Hand Luke) before the next game and play
smarter.
