Jim, the windows ME and 98 boxes have no problems in reading/writing to the
server. It's only the linux boxes that have problems. I could try any/all
of these, but it seems to me that they are mainly aimed at windows
sharing. Am I right?
WHAT I HAVE:
I've inherited a production debian system. uname reveals kernel
2.4.18-bf2.4. I am now running samba 3.0.14a with a completely stock
from source install (as part of my troubleshooting activities). The
machine acts as a PDC for win2k clients. It uses smbpasswd for the
password back
I couldnt create thai filemes on the shares because I had the line unix
charset = ISO8859-1 in my smb.conf, it has to be UTF8 which is the
default anyways.

Hello all,
I ve noticed a lot of talk about profile sharing.
Could someone tell me or point me in the right direction how I could

a profile on machine A and want B and C to also use it without having
to copy it over by hand.
I'm successfully running freebsd-5.x and per-user quotas, never tried
group quotas. are they implemented for freebsd+samba ?

Hello,

If you put the three users in a group and give that group what ever
unix premissions you want, set the other premission to non, leave what
you have in the smb.conf file, that should do it. You should not have
to map the unix group to a windows group for read write exec stuff. I
hope that helps.
