and so forth. Admittedly, the rpm man page does not indicate that this should work,

The Time Service doesn't do any logging, but you can test to see if
the sync works with the command:
w32tm -once -test -v
and you can see what the NtpServer is currently set to with:
net time /querysntp

I upgraded a samba PDS and a samba domain member server from 2.0.28 to 2.0.33 and
noticed a change in the speed of browsing directories that contain large files. I
don't mean a large number of files in the directory, rather, large files like

Do all of the files you have problems with have strange characters in them? I had
this problem back when I upgraded a samba server and I think it had to do with the
new server's i18n character support or something like that. In particular, the
character for the 1/2 symbol was a problem.

I made rpms for Fedora Core 1 by using rpmbuild --rebuild on the
.src.rpm file that is in the Fedora section of the samba download area.
Are my results the same as they would be if I downloaded the tar file
and ran the packaging/Fedora makerpms.sh script? Is one way preferred?

. The lock is released when the user logs
off, because that kills the pid as you mentioned. I don't think you
should kill the pid if the user is still active.
