When we looked at disassembled code it looked like several variables were not
decared as 64 bit. (guess on our part). In the migration to from SL 5 to
SL6 some one dropped in the wrong module for the driver!
That is one reason we have been dragging our feet moving all systems from 5.10
to SL 6.
We have been using Gigabyte GA770T with AMD processor.
We have not tried SL 7 yet.

I down loaded a copy of SL6.5 iso files in January 14.
I noticed that these files are no longer available on SL web site but 6.4 is
with a 13 date stamp.
The live DVD version of SL6.5 is available on web site.

Have a card which supports port multiplier - give you the ability to connect 4
SATA 6 drives to system.
Hardware appears to work but SL 5.7 does not appear to support ESATA.
Plan is to use a TR4M-BNC for 4 2 T byte drives. Looking at ports and do
not see ports?

Has anyone tried to use Cinnamon desktop onto SL. The Desktops on 6.X were
unusable from our vantage point and that is why we stalled at 5.8.
From some others I have talked to have tried it and found that they love it
and they indicated that were running Fedora.

(reboot) and you are there. Now you have to work on /etc/fstab to make all
drives physical mounts. (get rid of logical drive names). Once this is
done you should be able to reboot and recover you old data. You will notice
that you have a new fstab.
After you have everyting saved to a back up. Then you can replace disks /
rename them and use the same scheme to restore you system to use LVM.
A hard way around the apple tree but sometimes it's desperate measures by
desperate men. Its crude / rude but effective.
A very usefull utility would be a partial install disk that allows you to do
disk management and quit the install.

I won't tell you about serious botch up, however we need to reload a number of
tools on the server.
One is galculator - the chase is that you can down load it, and when you
configure it there is a missing lib. You get missing lib and you configure
it and it complains about missing XML::parser.
ple check their work?
I will put a new file .local with file minus the "pa" in it and work out the
rest of the lines.

They work fine with out the "-o cpi=10".
The job shows it was processed by cups but never is deleted from jobs list.
It like the font list was some how disconnected, lpr never times out after
hours of letting it run.

Sent SUSE information for Suse 9.3 it installs and runs on systtem.
SL did not install - got to driver for SATA disk and it dies in its tracks.
