Gael,
Actually, I didn't know I was considering sprints. I just got caught up in
the message thread. I am just interested in learning more and getting
better. What are sprints and how do you participate? Is there an event
notice where I can read up on it?

Yes, I do. But unfortunately, I have two teenagers, a husband and a job.
And I don't have a passport which, I know, makes me...I'm not sure what.

there's a pretty famous scientific python developper working in michigan

in this area.
I don't know him personnally, but I can give you his

I for one am in Michigan at MSU, so clear not everyone is from Europe. I too

Anne,
I'm not aware of any bigger Python conferences in that part of the US any
time soon. PyCon 2014 is going to be in Montreal, which is slightly closer
to MI (but still a ten hour drive, which probably doesn't help). If you
need to stay local, you can often find Python meetups in your own
Maybe a little closer than Montreal, there will be a PyData Boston July

John,
We do have a local Python meetup here in the Detroit area but it is a very
diverse group and very few use Python for data analysis. We also have a
Predictive Analytics meetup with local professionals. But everyone uses
different tools to analyze data. We are working on the Kaggle Titanic

AFAIK, Gael, Jake and I will be there. Any other takers?

Olivier,
I live way over in Michigan in the middle of the US. Are there any SciPy
events being planned within driving distance from me?
