Bit late to the chat, but would also recommend the Indian Institute of
World Culture in Basavanagudi. As Bharath said, not run by government but
not expensive. It also has a children's library in a separate wing next to
the main building, where I spent many, many happy hours as a child.
On Fri,
My information is a little old. But the best private lending libraries in
and Mylapore used to be:
1. Rajeshwari on Kutcheri road:

Suresh,
Could you give me a link to Murugan or a contact number, and the possible
name of the store in Gokul Arcade? My residences are at Mylapore and
Velachery currently.
Much thanks,
Preetha.

There's the State Central Library in the heart of Cubbon Park
Yeuggh. Bookleaze sounds too close to Booksleaze!
What is the process by which people come up with names for their
entrepreneurial efforts? I had a similar query in the old days of Live
Journal (a blogging site which barely exists now) and the answers were
varied and very...Interesting!
I don't
Yes, there are two I used to go to. One is World Culture in Basavanagudi (not
govt. but they run on a very fair fee), it has a collection that can keep a kid
busy for a couple of summers. The collection in the reading section of the
Govt. library in Malleshwaram was good (a good two decades
Oh that's much better than my search. For some reason "lending library"
only returned Eloor and Bookleaze for me.
Thanks!

Yeah, that's the one we found - we lived across the street from it. Are
there others? Any that are public (i.e. paid for by the government?)

Suresh,
For future reference, could you please share the lending libraries of
Bangalore? That was one of the things we (especially Debbie) missed the
most about our time there - we were used to easily findable and accessible
public libraries, and couldn't find such in Bangalore.

On
Howdy folks,
I would like to seek your suggestions on the recommended reading
list/songs/nursery rhymes etc. for a 5-month old baby girl. Is there a
lending library where we can get children's books from - just wondering for
I haven't seen one in India, so far. Could be mistaken, though.
