If one is concerned about the purity of borax, then they could always
purchase boric acid. It is available in some drug stores in high
purity. Of course if you use that, the amount would go down since it
contains a higher percentage of boron than borax does.

reasonable amount for a reasonable price, I would have bought it.

Just don't use the product called Boraxo. It has soap, etc, added to
the Borax.

OK, now I am confused. I had been taking the amount that sticks to a wet
finger up to the first knuckle, and just measured it, and it measured
about 1/4 teaspoon. So is this the right amount, or about 30 times too
high?

But that depends on the density. That is for, I am guessing water,

Do you realise 1/4 tsp is 1000mg.? Hmmm Me thinks quite a large

I just read a few of these posts and find it very interesting. Are you talking
about the 20 Mule Team Borax Natural Laundry Booster? Boron may be good for
one if needed, but is it OK to ingest the Borax product? How do you know what
else is in it and that it is safe? I always have a box around
Did I miss something about the borax posts? Why is everyone talking about
taking borax when boron is so cheap, readily available and already pre-measured
to the dose you want to take?

Yes, apparently the soil does need boron, but in very small amounts. So it
is not a great idea to broadcast it all over, as that is too much. The
quantity is hardly any hardly ever.

Bruce, I was scanning this conversation but am unable to tell if you got

So you need approx 1/33 of 1/4 tsp.. Don't know how you figure that

When I first started using Borax I did the Hulda Clark thing, using it for
all cleaning and washing, handwashing, though not bath, as I used Epsom
salts for that.
Maybe because my skin care is minimal, I found that using it instead of soap
gave me deep cracks around the sides of my fingernails.

That's interesting because from the previous posts I was thinking it may
be a good idea to dissolve borax in water and spray it over the garden
so that the veggies will come to be rich in boron. But if it burns grass
that may not be such a good idea??
