Where on earth would estrogen come from? Polyethylene is made from a
catalytic reaction using pure ethylene gas and certain metals. Pure
polyethylene is formed by this process. Estrogen is a completely different
compound

One has to go to a higher grade of plastic to prevent the leaching.

: CSleaching plastics
Gallon Milk jugs should not leach, they are made from high density
polyethylene, which requires no plasticizers at all.

Me too. I know that if I get RO water at the supermarket and I don't
rinse out the HDPE jugs that are provided, I will get a strong
paraffin-like taste. But I don't know if this is some sort of leaching
or just a film that can be rinsed out. I can also taste this some times
and in some brands
and that that has only been in glass.
What is he tasting?

The mold release compound sounds likely.

Marshall,
By that statement, I'm assuming you mean that the plastic doesn't
enter the solution, correct?
Has anyone tested the ppm after a period of time storing CS in
such containers in order to verify that the CS hasn't been captured by
the plastic?

storing purchased distilled water in something else as well.
