Bernard, thanks for the reply. I just reinstalled the server and new
systemimager 4.0.2 installed (the error message has been corrected, thanks
again). si_mkbootserver is still stopping at the same point: in.tftpd not
found. Ports are open on the client and I am able to do a standard network

I don't use the monitoring because my server don't have graphic mode.

Try this:

Hello,
Would it be possible to have this list carried on gmane.org? I looked around
there but couldn't find it ... appologies if it's already there.

I am having this same issue as well; I want to clone Dell PowerEdge 2950's. I
use the UYOK option to make the CD, either with no option, or targeting the
/etc/systemconfig/boot/ dir of my created image, and every boot cd fails.
I read the UYOK page several times.
I get the same error as:

Well... it's a nice wrapper to create links in
/var/lib/systemimager/scripts for your environment.. ;-)
Maybe, in general, it would be great to have an option in
si_mkautoinstallscript (and consequently in si_getimage) to specify the
list of the overrides by command line, like:
si_mkautoinstallsc
Your autoinstallscript.conf seems ok. The same for your master script.
Have you tried to remove the "lba" flag from the extended partition
(just replace it with a "-") and re-run si_mkautoinstallscript?
Moreover how big is the disk in your client? and what's the size
detected by parted (parted -s
Maybe I've just been reinventing the wheel here..
I've only one image and I use overrides per platform to get these
systems to boot... and depending on which hardware platform is being
reimaged, I create a link from the hostname -> the masterfile I've
created for that hardware platform.

OK, and what's the output of 'uname -a' in your golden client? and the output of
the following commands:
# file /var/lib/systemimager/images//etc/systemimager/boot/kernel
# file /usr/share/systemimager/boot/i386//kernel
# diff /usr/share/systemimager/boot/i386//kernel
/var/lib/systemimager/images
OK, let me understand better...
You have a 32-bit image server and you're trying to image 64-bit clients
with a 64-bit image.
I suppose you're using boot over PXE.
I suppose that systemconfigurator works correctly in your golden client,
but not in the chrooted environment in your image server, b
OK, I understand, in your case is simpler to have an image for each hw
platform. Remember that if you have to setup a lot of network cards you
can write post-install scripts depending on informations that can be
found in /etc/hosts (I usually do this). And to handle different
partitioning schemas w

I'll check out rdiff-backup and see what it can do!
Our environment is a bit more different from platform to platform than
just the disk type.. Such as based on the different hardware, we produce
different sized swap files based on the system memory... each system has
different NIC cards that w

Anyway, it should be possible to use the same image also if you have
clients with different hardware. What can change is:
- disks type (SCSI, IDE, SATA, etc): you can resolve with option
--autodetect-disks in si_mkautoinstallscript
- kernel modules, initrd and boot-loader: systemconfigurator shou
