It was tough conditions with overcast and threats of rain all
day. But the rain stayed away long enough for us to squeeze in 3 rounds.
Marc Gellart captured the coveted two day overall win with a win on
Sunday. And he did it without his Insanity on Sunday.
Hats off to the hard working
I am sorry but one day at work I got a whole bucket of ball from the
driving range and a club to go with it, so I felt it was a fun activity
to hit balls from the top of the copper pit and see what your longest
drive could be. well I forgot to add the one mile drop to the bottom of
the pit
Congrats to Marc from the BSS.

Congratulations to the new OVSS Champ, Marc Gellart.

Great flying by an all-around good guy. Marc dropped 13 points out of 5000 --
hard to beat that performance. MVSA still claims Marc as an honorary member.

The OVSS scores are in after this past weekends OVSS #8 the Fred Fredricson
Memorial Thermal Challenge, hosted by SOAR. The overall winner was Marc
Gellart, Mr. OVSS himself. And unless my my math is bad, Marc has wrapped up
the Crystal Eagle for himself this year.

Anyone out there have an actual program they use specifically for SMOM
contest scoring? (Or just MOM for that matter.)
Or do you just use excel and some special layouts/macros?

I also use an Excel spreadsheet. It computes scores and normalized scores,
arranges competitors in order of standings, and sets up the flight group for
the next round instantly as soon as times are entered. Anybody who wants a copy
is welcome to it, just email me. In order to set it up for the

I had CheapBatteryPacks (http://cheapbatterypacks.com) make a couple of
TX packs for me last year (Nov) for my JR 8103 TX. I figure I'd give
them a seasons worth of use and let you all know what happened. I used
SPAA2300 cells (which they are now sold out of) and the packs they made

We had a fantastic day soaring yesterday at 60 Acres South in
Redmond, WA USA! Hour long flights punctuated by speed runs,
aerobatics, then climbing back up to a speck in the abundant lift.
You only get a few days like that a season.
At the end of the day, Russ Light had an awesome
Hi guys,
I am sort of based around Atlantic City but my pickup will travel 3 or
4hours for a contest, this weekend.

Rockaway Beach New York this week
Just the facts folks: Gordy was 14th in a field of 22 ESL
Expert class fliers. The first place in Sportsman Class (14 entries) beat
him too. We had 9 in RES (including 3 Novices) for a total of 44.

It was gonna come out sooner or later,
I have been deluged with requests. I will forward the sheet late tonite or

some instructions to it, so give me a little while to do that.

I've flown this plane a couple of seasons at a grass field (Denver). It's
had a pretty easy life. Never crashed. The flange the nose cone slips over
has a crack in it (pic 2180). Not sure how that happened. Over all, this
plane is in excellent shape.

Gang,For the first time in a long time I was upset that I couldn't fly. I had planned on sneaking an hour in to fly after work, and my wife called me with a minor issue. As we all know, you have to take care of work and family and then we can fly. And for whatever reason something clicked

Ok, now the questions...
1. To the competitive pilots, how often do you practice a week? 1
day a week for an hour? several times a week? How long are your sessions?
Practice is over-rated.
2. How often does the wind change during a flying session?
The US F3J Team had a great performance and we thank all of

we had a small deficit in the budget. In an attempt to make up some of
