[soft_radio] Re: Error at shutdown of PC after having used Winrad
Hello Alberto, At first, thanks for your reply. I am, indeed, using WinradHD (last version which is 0.152). In the meantime I have found out that this error (when shutting down the PC) only shows up on 1 of my laptops (Belinea C1541) which has Windows XP SP3 on board. My other laptop (Acer aspire 5310) which runs Windows Vista Home Basic, does not have this error when I shut it down. Maybe it is only an incidental case that happens only with THAT PC... However, maybe some more Winrad users may see this error, and in that case it is probably more easy to resolve it. In addition, I have tried (on both PC's) to start WinradHD without loading the ExtIO_PMSDR.dll s you suggested. I can start the software, but I cannot close it because of this error: WinradHD: Zugriffsverletzung bei Adresse 0124A963 in Modul 'ExtIO_PMSDR.dll'. Lesen von Adresse 0440. So that is an error probably generated by WinradHD. I can only close the application with the task manager. The other one (the 'shutdown' error) is different and is only showing up at the very last Windows screen when shutting down the PC. Of course: no problems any more when loading the dll when starting WinradHD. For the rest I have no other problems with laptop 1 after rebooting (even when I have the shutdown error): I can use WinradHD with my PMSDR without any problems. Note: another problem has been found for which I have started a new thread (to avoid a mix of different issues in one thread). And, have you tried to start Winrad (or WinradHD) without selecting the PMSDR DLL ? Does it still cause the error when closing if you don't select the DLL ? If now the error is disappeared, then the culprit seems to be that DLL. 73 Alberto I2PHD

Now, it would be interesting to check whether the error exists also in my Winrad V1.33c, which you can get from this link : http://www.sdrham.com/bin/Winrad_133b03_setupXP.exe If still you have the error, then I will investigate on it. Otherwise, Mario DG0JBJ, the producer of WinradHD, is the one that should hunt for the error. I don't have the source code of WinradHD, so I cannot do it myself. [soft_radio] Implementing your own SDR?
Folks: Over the last several years I have been implementing my own SDR hardware and software. When I got started I found the learning curve to be very steep and dominated by mathematics. I believe this complexity is unnecessary and that getting started with implementing SDR can be intuitive. In an attempt to encourage others I have written up an 'Introduction to SDR... without the math' presentation. I expect to give this presentation at 'cactus con' this summer. I order to prepare for this presentation I would like to get some feedback from others familiar with the subject matter. If you have some time, I would appreciate the feedback. Please remember that I will be supplementing verbally. My presentation can be found at: http://www.ae6ty.com/ae6ty/ae6ty/Papers.html Click the picture of the Hilbert Transform kernel. [soft_radio] Re: Error at shutdown of PC after having used Winrad
Hello Alberto, I will try out the V1.33c, and I will inform you with my results! Mario has already been contacted by me (via 'regular' e-mail), and he has already replied. He is also very helpful with his feedback, and it would be nice if all the different efforts to improve/debug the Winrad(HD) software could be centralized in one way or another. Anyway, I am very grateful with all the responses from all of you. It is my first step into the world of SDR (with my recently purchased PMSDR) , and I am learning almost every day! [soft_radio] Re: Error at shutdown of PC after having used Winrad
Hello Alberto, I have tried your version, and I did not notice any error at shutdown! However, I have another problem which shows up after having used the Winrad recorder for playing back a file, and returning to the receiver function of Winrad: The DLL window is missing, so I cannot tune the PMSDR to another frequency (only within the span as shown on the waterfall display). I can get the DLL window back with 'options' - 'select input' - 'PMSDR', but at that time I get an error message: ''Winrad - Access violation at address 014B133C in module 'ExtIO_PMSDR.dll'. Read of address 0014. After that I can continue with using Winrad. I can close the PC without any error message popping up. So this is probably not the symptom that has a relation with my 'shutdown' error I assume... 73's, Tom --- In soft_radio@yahoogroups.com, Alberto I2PHD i2...@... wrote: On 5/7/2010 4:48 PM, satellitboy wrote: In addition, I have tried (on both PC's) to start WinradHD without loading the ExtIO_PMSDR.dll s you suggested. Re: [soft_radio] Implementing your own SDR?
I'll see if I can post a zip file which has the html. I could also provide powerpoint but it generally requires powerpoint 2010 or keynote because of the videos. I'll let you know when they're available. ward On May 7, 2010, at 11:07 AM, Rotten Robbie wrote: How can we get a copy of your presentation? I would like to save it on my computer.
