Hi Tim and Nicolas,
thanks for responses, i had no issue exporting the animation from
Softimage, found that i wasnt importing it in the correct way in UE. Also
found that to make animation work on unreal it has to be loaded through
animation blueprints. Already made the animation graph work, where
yeah sort of works, i can use this, but it would be better to be able to
extrude curves. then i can keep it live and change the word/font
without screwing up the extrusion
i bet Houdini could do it

Hi Francisco,
I can´t help you much further, I´ve only spent some 10-35 hrs with UE4

That said, you might want to check your Epic Games Launcher for the

Hi Tim,
already fixef it, couldn´t find the animation properties in 4.7, seems ue

Thanks again.

Power extrude?? Its Ice based. Think it does sub curves?

I was looking up something in the SDK docs and noticed something really odd:
Why does the Pass object have an Envelopes property?

Thanks Matt,
It's not related in this case, I managed to suppress the database error,
but I still have problems with mis-typed and stale typed ports n the ice
context.
At this point it's got some really bizarre connotations.
For the record the above is all persisting even if I not only restart

Hey folks,
I'm getting some very weird behaviour with a node where XSI issues a
warning on reload that the database for ICE Nodes is invalid followed by
the name of the node I'm prototyping.
The node definition behaves erratically, with me having had to change
things such as the names of the
I have experienced that behavior with PPG logic for custom plugins and
shaders. Usually happens when performing some illegal command and Softimage
ducks for cover to protect itself from crashing. Whatever internal data
Softimage was managing gets corrupted/deleted and you must restart the
Did that, and it sorted no effect.
At this point it seems growing ports in a group that are at the bottom of

that's not obvious to users.

I've found what it is actually, if anybody else ever bumps into it.
Having a growable set of grouped ports at the top of the def will grow
its types into subsequent ports instead of moving the stack upwards from
the bottom.
It's a bit hard to explain, but all I can say for now is that if you have
Hi,
Could you try deleting all the .cachedat and .cachehdr files in your
Autodesk/Softimage folder in your user directory?
These files serve as a cache for ICE node definitions and maybe they got
de-synced somehow.
Thanks,

Hi,
Another legacy type question.
Before I try it out and go around in ever diminishing circles I wondered if
anyone else has tried this already.
Will Andy's Save Render Mesh addon work with Arnold?

Well thanks for the heads-up.

I didn't actually try it, but SItoA doesn't provide a lightmap shader
(which is what that plugin uses).

This morning I woke up with the idea to create 2 or 3 models with baked

Bastard! It'll only do the first CURVE in the list! oops.
can you get away with a curve defomed piece of geometry, maybe with a slice op
under the curve deform?
...
Seems to work better if you select the polys of the mesh and extrude rather
than just selecting the mesh and extruding...

Hey guys
So I have to re-time my particles in Maya, and no one seems to know how
to do this properly.
Do you guys know if I can bring them into softimage, re-time, and then
re-export the ncache to maya?
Even if you know how to do it with houdini, please shout!
Thanks guys
