Hi!
I had a speedtouch working with ubuntu edgy (and in Portugal too) until
recently, when I got a Sagem 1200 router off ebay. The speedtouch works fine,
even though the sagem seems to allow faster throughput. What I did was
basically what you have on the howtos you linked, you might want to try

This is because you do not follow the how-to

Patching was necessary with old kernel. You don't need anymore to
patch the kernel since 2.4.19
For PPPoE you will need these

This is very interesting, so there are problems with the uhci code in 2.6

May I add some info? I use linux (mandrake MNF), but I managed to get a
working connection with the 330. Our ISPs in portugal all use PPPOE, PPPOA
doesn't work at all. Looking at my howto, I call pppoa3 differently, but I
don't know if that is because I am using linux and not FreeBSD; anyway, here
And if you find I did something wrong on the howto, or need some
clarification, please tell me, I'm following the mailing list and welcome all
sugestions.

Also, add to those questions,
- Does his isp use pppoe instead of pppoa?
- Are his vic/vpi set correctly?

Well,
I have a speedtouch 330 working here in Portugal with oninet, so you might
want to take a look at what I did at
http://cosmos.oninetspeed.pt/jose.bernardo/speedtouch.html, even though it is
specific to my firewall's distribution, Mandrake's MNF. But I had to use
pppoa3 instead of pppoa2,
If you'd stayed with sourcemage instead of gentoo... ;)
Take a look at the howto I posted for mandrake's mnf, since it was made for
portugal (oninet speed) and MNF hasn't got hotplug installed, so I didn't use
ifup. To get tap1 working, I edited the speedtouch.sh file to add the lines to
launch

Hello, Jose Bernardo Silva,
If you'd stayed
INTERFACE=ppp0
instead of INTERFACE=eth1, and restart ez-ipupdate - I don't know why, but
MNF didn't update this one.
As soon as I get a web page up on my new isp, I'm thinking of posting this
howto, might help others.

Frans,
That fixed it. 50Kbps+! Thanks a lot!
It is even faster than the cable I had previously, and that one was supposed
to be 640 while ADSL is 512... Changing ISP sure helped... :)

Hi, can anyone help me?
I've checked and rechecked, and I can't get my brand new speedtouch 330 to
work with mnf 8.2 (Mandrake's 8.2 based firewall).
Here's what I did:
I've downloaded the src rpm for the 1.2.1 drivers, rebuilt it on a mandrake
8.2 development machine, and installed it on my
Answering my own questions, I managed to get further ahead thanks to a posting
on sourceforge's forum, by Hugo Rodrigues. Following his indications, I edited
the /etc/ppp/peers/adsl file, and changed the options of pppoa3 so that it's
line would be /usr/sbin/pppoa3 -b -e 1 -m 1 -c -vpi 0 -vci 35
