Not to be a [EMAIL PROTECTED], but why would you bother? My original Lucas starter lasted 20+ years, the rebuilt one from Moss\LBCCARCO cost under $100, and it spins my high compression 1296 over with gusto. What does the gear reduction get you? Other than a big hole in the wallet? Kevin

Probably a bad sending unit. Will the one off my 1500 work? Probably, but I don't know for certain. Engine oil is about the same viscosity as gear oil, or slightly less. It won't make the box feel stiff. Lack of lubrication on the plastic pivot ball of the shifter will though. Looks like I'll

I agree that the oem units do work just fine. But there are a few advantages. Such as 5 roller ball bearing surfaces compared to 2 bushing surfaces on oem units. As well as low cold cranking amperage drain, so cold starting in winter and if you accidentally left your lights on for a few hours

From the triumphspitfire.com web site. The swap was a physical bolt on. The Isuzu costs $72.99 (Autozone) with a life time warranty. You do have to change some wiring to bypass the original Starter Solenoid Wiring. Moved the original solenoid to starter wire to the upper lug on the Lucas solenoid

If you have everything worked out, you can buy one of my shock mount brackets and give yourself some extra room to play with while you are trying to find a coil-over shock to fit. The trouble with the normal mounting points, you will find it difficult to fit a coil-over spring into the space

A Spit I recently 'pass-over' only caught my eye on the side of the road because of the GT6 bonnet. (thought is was a Spit6/CGT6) anyway...the guy had also used coil overs in the rear. They were J.C. Whitney supplied mobile car trailer shocks for a lawn/garden trailer. I agree with Joe
