RE: Removing sprinkler on CPVC pipe

The right guy with the clever tools developed for VRP could handle it better than others, but if you're talking a dry head, and excessive distance up into the ceiling, it'll accentuate the difficulty. glc -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of

RE: Change in static pressure

After doing the math the pressure loss can be accounted for by the change in elevation and the loss through the backflow at the low flow. I was unaware of the loss in pressure with no/little flow on the BFP. Thanks for everyone's input on the matter. Dewayne -Original Message- From:

Roland, So what you are trying to tell me so delicately is that I was wrong and my sprinkler is over spaced according to rules. I really appreciate this forum for all the guidance it provides. Dewayne -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of

Being in the center of your rectangle (sounds like new wave psych- babble) does not necessarily mean splitting the difference. It gets more confused with different types of sprinklers especially since it is NOT defined by 13. I too would count the boundary as the 7 ft mark from the EC.

Flexible coupling on pipe drop supplying more than one sprinkler

2008-05-12 Thread Splawn, Shannon
Question: I have a situation where I am showing a flexible coupling within 24 of the drop that supplies two CONCEALED pendent sprinklers located in acoustical ceiling tiles. For drops that only supply a single sprinkler I am only indicating a drop pipe without any flex. There is a debate that

Hey Shannon, long time no hear, Hope all is well. Still in Ohio? Anyway, NFPA 13, 2007 9.3.2.3 states, Flexible couplings will be installed as follows: (5) Within 24 of the top of drops exceeding 15ft in length to portions of systems supplying more than one sprinkler regardless of pipe size.

Yes, still in Ohio. The drops are 18' long. Branch lines are located in bar joist space in a very high space and ceiling is at 9' AFF. The drops that are single heads I feel are ok. It's the ones where it splits and supplies two heads where I have a concern. Shannon Splawn -Original

Hello George, Use a Crowfoot type open end, 3/8 drive extension, and a ratchet to reach up beside the drop to hold the hex on the CPVC fitting has worked for us in a lot of cases. This is a reference link for those that do know what this is. Not a referral...
