should be attached to the sprinkler as intended by the sprinkler

sprinkler manufacturer and not require glue or caulk for attachment.
Theapplication of glue
Take a look at the Tyco rubber boot DSB-2 used for dry pendants penetrating
into coolers.
We’ve used these on several projects where we had to have a seal between the
occupied space and the space above.

6.2.7.4 The use of caulking or glue to seal the penetration or to affix the
components of a recessed escu
This ‘seal’ you speak of would not actually seal anything IMO as many inner
escutcheons have a hole through them as well as the bent teeth for a friction
fit for the outer escutcheon around it creating multiple ‘non-sealed’ voids.
Can you use the rubber boot for the backside of dry pendants to
NFPA 13 2013:
6.2.7.4 The use of caulking or glue to seal the penetration or to affix
the components of a recessed escutcheon or concealed cover plate shall not
be permitted.
