Michael - I have successfully updated to 7.9.0. Real easy! Everything
plays, all my favorites are there as well as my artwork. Unfortunately,
that one problem playlist always reverts to an old version instead of
reading the correct version from my iTunes.

Just installed the latest nightly and I can confirm that the LMS UI
works again and so do the tabs under settings.

The pedant in me would also keep the indentation in line with the other
code for readability (probably my fault for using tabs rather than
spaces in the original fix post), but no need really.
No reason to be sorry for using tabs. Anything else is a mess :-).

Oh, this is a little more complicated than I thought: I reported above
while testing LMS 7.7.6. It did work there mostly, but the settings
lacked the tabs. Now with 7.9 I get a totally different picture: tabs in
settings are ok, but the main screen is, as reported, somehow blocked.

To your point, I'm not for sure that it's NOT FLAC. I'll have to get
iPeng and try it out to see what it says.
No need for iPeng: just bring up the track information menu from the Now
Playing screen (the title bar on the Touch or similar).
