No, only need an Internet connection to stream Music from the Internet
as in
No, I don't think so.
There are a couple of people using piCoreplayer as a standalone system
or in the car.
piCorePlayer checks for internet access in some commands, this will take
a while to time out. There are a few opinions in [Tweaks] to turn off
tabs and controls.

So you have to install SSL and all its dependencies:
1. Make sure you have Optware QPKG installed on your NAS. Turns out
that Optware has been replaced by Entware but I've seen Entware blow up
SSOTS so you can download it here:

ok so I actually got this fixed.
first I wanted to make sure there wasn't any dependency issues so in
addition to the ones in the above link (make, openssl, and gcc), I also
installed the following:
ipkg install coreutils binutils automake
once I did this, I got stuck with the compiler error
Again, I am not going to say it is definitely fixed but still looking
good! :)
