Thanks, Avalon. Finally got back to looking at this post, and the one
thing that was missing

It shouldn't be. Might be a good question for the experts here.
Thank you Avalon. Is this needed after each Mac OS update?

Hi. I am v 8.30 of LMS on a mac running v 12.1. I too could no longer
see my library on an external disk, but turning "start LMS
automatically" off at start up fixed that.
BUT - LMS when it scans is not finding any of music files, even though
it now points to the right place. In my case:
Just wanted to update this thread. After some troubleshooting I have
been able to isolate the external drive access problem and reliably
correct it (albeit with a manual LMS restart).
When I installed LMS I could not get *Automatically start server when
system boots* to function. I switched
Having the same issue here. I just had to replace my 2010 Mac mini
Sierra LMS server with an M1 running Big Sur. I have done everything
in the Mac OS Mojave-Montery thread:

I wanted to give this a try, but nothing happens with I click on the "-"
button in the Security and Privacy | Full Disk Access window. sh, perl,
perl5.18 are still present. So not sure how to try this suggestion.
Did you unlock the panel (there's a lock at the bottom you have to click)?

Try removing your bash, sh, perl items in the Security & Privacy lists,
and then re-add them. I think

Yup.
Code:
Code:
/usr/bin/perl convert.pl keepass2 -v /Volumes/Media/keepass2_export.xml
Would the same work with /usr/bin/perl5.18? And what macOS version are
you using?

I'm baffled... I tried to come up with a simple one-liner to investigate
the problem. And I fail to get this working here, too! I can't get Perl
to access a mounted drive.
Anybody still got a setup on a Mac with music on a mounted drive?

I should probably have asked about "ls -l /Volumes", too.

Did you restart LMS since you modified those settings? And did you grant
perl as well as perl5.18

Yes to both. I
And when I click on Browse to bring up the list of folders, I cannot
drill down under /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Volumes/External SSD/
Did you restart LMS since you modified those settings? And did you grant
perl as well as perl5.18 those permissions?

In Settings / Basic Settings, I have the following as the first entry
under Folders:
/Volumes/Macintosh HD/Volumes/External
Web interface (ie localhost:9000) isn't seeing any of the music library.
So in Settings/Basic you can't drill down to one of the folders?

/bin/sh added to Full Disk Access. Restarted LMS, same result although
without the same (or any error) message.

It would be /bin/sh rather than /usr/bin/sh.

Right, I
Error scanning file or folder: /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Volumes/External
SSD/iTunes: Operation not permitted
There are multiple threads around macOS and permissions in more recent
macOS versions. Follow the steps to grant LMS full disk access.

Error scanning file or folder: /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Volumes/External
SSD/iTunes: Operation not permitted
I've been having all sorts of issues over the past month with LMS and my
SB player. Most recently I installed the latest version of LMS 8.2.0 and
everything was working again, but only
