If you add (cant really remember the exact number) something like 5
without a scan that can happen.
Thanks for the tip! There's quite a lot of folders - do you know why
adding a bunch at once would eat up so much memory? The only reason
that comes to mind (as a programmer) are that the scan

I've enclosed the log files here. Both the memory-eating issue, and the
client "Searching..." issue might have clues in them.
What Linux are you running?
What LMS version are you using?
Did you configure it to scan for images, movies and music? Or music only?
What do server.log and scanner.log say?

I'm running Kubuntu Desktop 18.04 (Ubuntu variant running KDE).
LMS the latest
Hey all, folks...
So I recently bought a small fanless PC (Zotac CI549) to run LMS on.
I wanted to run Linux on it, as that generally is faster and uses fewer
resources than Windows.
So I finally got everything set up, and when I set the media folders to
scan and pressed "Apply" on the web
I'm running Vortexbox, with LMS from the nightlies, on a Lenovo T560
laptop with 16GB of RAM and see similar behaviour when starting up LMS,
but not to the point of the system becoming unresponsive. It takes 100%
CPU on 1 core and quite a lot of RAM. After a couple of minutes this all
goes down
Lookingh at log again - what sort of player are you using ? I quickly
assumed Plugin:UPNP was Phillip's UPNP player but it's not.
arecord has a lot of memory not LMS (in fact it look like Plex is using
more memory than LMS) - what is wavinput playing to ? Has it been
paused ? Did you have
I think the UPNPplayer doesn't like some streams - I've seen something
like this with BBCiPlayer plugin. The UPNP player tries to collect as
much data as it can but wavinput is infinite.
Get onto Phillip - there are UPNP plugin settings to avoid this.
When you have problems like this - break
There are several threads regarding this subject, but this is one I feel
mostly summarizes the current solution is this one...

Still broken. Sadly, Ive tried everything I can think of. I have
stopped listening to the twit network as it is too painful.
Time to start looking for squeezebox replacement it seems. Sadly,
nothing at that price point with same functionality. Logitech
acquisition sucked the life out. Boo.
That screen shot shows it full.
Not at all: it didn't even start swapping. It reports 987M out of 3.8G used.
What I see from your server.log though is that you have a networking
issue. LMS doesn't find any valid IP address, falling back to 127.0.0.1.

About a week ago I installed the plugin WaveInput (v1.04) seems to work
good. But 2 times now don't know why my server just locks up and I have
to turn off the power and back up. It's a Ubuntu server.
Looked at the LMS error log and here is the last part of it if this will
say why it locked up
Been running Htop wile playing a Wave input and the Memory gradually
fills up. I guess it's LMS.

That screen shot shows it full.
As I type this looks like one red bar went in the Swap part. It locked
up before don't know if this is why.

Hi,
the media folders... how many ?
My advice for this step is
- just add one folder
- do a
