I'm running Vortexbox, with LMS from the nightlies, on a Lenovo T560 laptop with 16GB of RAM and see similar behaviour when starting up LMS, but not to the point of the system becoming unresponsive. It takes 100% CPU on 1 core and quite a lot of RAM. After a couple of minutes this all goes down to almost nothing however.
