Thanks for the tip!  There's quite a lot of folders - do you know why
adding a bunch at once would eat up so much memory?  The only reason
that comes to mind (as a programmer) are that the scan is done
multithreaded, and each thread is allocating lots of memory per tree
descent.  But even so... seems a little much.

As bpa mentioned LMS isn't using that much memory. You're not running low. And what DJanGo presents as a fact, is just something he wrote. Don't take it for granted.

LMS is single threaded. Before you haven't provided more information (log files) it's all random speculation.
