[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] The Endless Scan
LMS 7.9 LMS 7.9 (and 7.8 before it) never seems to be done scanning, even when it appears that it is done. 22385 Always says "Rescanning Media Library" at the bottom. And on the bottom of the Home page, too. The media library is located on an external HDD attached via USB to a Windows XP box, which is sharing that drive out. LMS is running on a Linux box with the shared drive mounted on it. The scanner in 7.8 had to be manually stopped in order to browse my media library, at least that's no longer true in 7.9, making this purely a cosmetic issue at this point. But it would be nice to get the thing to stop the Endless Scan. If you use more than one language or have occasional problems with adding new services through MySB you should update to the latest 7.9.1 nightly. Installing latest 7.9.1 rescan and restarting players seems to solved have the problem. I think I stay here. Try 7.9 on another Computer and you'll see. I can't decide for you. But if you got your issues sorted out with another LMS I'd really consider to build your von from scratch. Or take a different approach and install piCorePlayer or Max2Play on an Raspberry. I'd call it success or at least progress as you could download the package. What I would try now (remember I'm absolutely not in Vortexbox, yum or RPM!), was to uninstall 7.8 and install 7.9.0 from scratch. Maybe you save your prefs first. I'm using the JSON interface and have noticed that, when I query the
playlist and request the "remote" tag it either returns an integer 1 or
a string "0". Presumably both should be integers.

Oh man, frustration continues. Well it crashed again tonight. No obvious signs in the log what happened. No errors relating to picture scanning and ports still closed. I'll post my last server entries below to see if someone can solve this ongoing mystery. I'm tempted to just go back to my previous version. Below log lines all smell like networking issues.
