Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Protect Library Views?

2018-12-07 Thread maweber

Thanks for your hint.
It appears that the compendium around the plugin "Multi Library" is
exactly what I was looking for.
It allows to automatically restrict access based on Player name.

However even though I managed to install it in the desired way (using
the child-room howto in the wiki), it showed to be inconsistent over
restarts of LMS.

How would you position Erland's approach contrary to library views?
It that a goal you eventually want to achieve using views?
Is it true that the Views came long after Erland's solution and aim to
overhaul the whole thing he did?

I must say the "Multi Library" way is extremely difficult to understand,
and also very slow in loading those special menus.
But it is also very powerful.

Being it a bit overkill security, I will try it with views instead.
It's just way faster.

cheers
m

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Raspberry PI for LMS with network storage for PC and Mac?

2018-12-07 Thread Tony T

What garym said.
I may have overcomplicated the process with all my links :)

The "Quickstart" way:

1. D/L the pCP4.1.0 Standard Version from:
https://www.picoreplayer.org/main_downloads.shtml
2. Burn the image to the microSD
3. Insert the microSD into the Raspberry Pi and Power on
4. Find the IP Address of the Raspberry Pi / piCorePlayer
5. Enter the IP Address into any local computer's Browser

You'll now see the pCP Welcome Screen, and you can now install LMS:
https://www.picoreplayer.org/how_to_install_lms.shtml

6. Open LMS in your local computer's Browser with the IP Address in 4.
followed by :9000 (i.e. http://192.168.xx.xx:9000)

Since none of the architecture work - you need to get a working copy of

2018-12-07 Thread bpa

I can reproduce the problem with sox 14.3.0 - so this is not a new issue
- I reckon it is something very picky as this sox works OK when use in
LMS ansd so chasing a problem that may be a waste of time.

Most use of transcoding with Inguz etc uses pipes (via socketwrapper)
and so sox never has a file input just a piped input.

I think go back to the LMS and log the command line that is failing.

To add to this. Once you burn pCP to the microSD, *everything* else you
need to do will be based on settings on the pCP (that you access from a
web browser on another computer). You'll tick a few boxes, etc. But
when done you'll have player software, an up to date LMS, etc. Your
questions imply that you'll have to install lots of pieces of software.
In reality, you are installing only the pCP. It will then be a player
or LMS server, or both.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS 7.8 and streaming AAC

2018-12-07 Thread Shellness

Thanks very much for getting back. There are three directories under
Bin, and they have the following files (in brackets) in them:

1. aarch64-linux (alac, flac, sox, wvunpack)
2. armhf-linux (faad, flac, mac, sox, wvunpack)
3. arm-linux (faad, flac, mac, sls, sox, wvunpack)

With the directory set to either the second or third directories,
entering -./faad- got --bash: ./faad: No such file or directory-. Ditto
for -./flac, ./mac, ./sox, ./wvunpack-

Looking in WinSCP these files under the three directories vary in size
from about 200kB to 2MB.

OMV does support these transcoders because, until two months ago when
something happened, I was able to listen to iPlayer & Extras and Soma
without issue.

Rasbian is the official Pi OS (Current version, Stretch), and there are
others on their website (https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/)
BUT, DON'T burn any of those to your microSD for your LMS (I only
mention it here if you decide to use a Pi for other projects)

For what you're doing now, you only need to burn the pCP image to the
microSD.
The pCP help doc's are quite good:
https://www.picoreplayer.org/main_getting_started.shtml
(Read through the tabs on that page: Getting Started, How To, etc, I
found the How To tab had what I needed:
https://www.picoreplayer.org/main_howto.shtml)

Do you have what you need to burn pCP to the microSD?
https://www.picoreplayer.org/how_to_burn_pcp_onto_a_sd_card.shtml
(I needed to get one of these to use with my Mac to burn pCP:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009D79VH4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8=1)

It will be easier once you have the Pi in hand.

This is the actual command line that fails, though run separately in a
Cmd window (it is in the format: sox input.wav output.wav rate -v -I
NewSampleRate):

Code:

F:\Temp>"C:\Program Files
(x86)\Squeezebox\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\sox.exe"

rate -v -I 48000

It fails with the message:

Code:

/MSWin32-x86-multi-thread/sox FAIL formats: can't open input file
`C:ProgramDataInguzEQTempRE006E4F9FF9.wav': No such file or directory

I captured the Error Code: 2

Yes the file exists. This is the path copied direct to clipboard from
Windows Explorer: "C:\ProgramData\InguzEQ\Temp\RE006E4F9FF9.wav"

When I run the same sox command but only using filenames without any
paths the command is successful, though there is a warning message:

"RE006E4F9FF9.wav" "output.wav" rate -v -I 48000

Sox message (which I don't think affects anything):

Yes, though the ubuntu equivalent would be, say,
/usr/share/InguzEQ/Temp/filename, rather than starting with a drive
letter.

As I posted earlier, perhaps I am stupidly mistaken but, as far as I can
see the sox 14.4.3 installed on Windows with LMS 7.9.2 doesn't seem to
support Windows filepaths. When (Windows) Sox 14.4.3 is run in the
Command window it will only work properly if the input.wav output.wav
filenames are given without any path, otherwise it throws up Exit Code
2, source file or directory not found.

Backslash in Linux paths is the "escape" character - it tell Linux treat

IIRC Windows has a limit of the length of a full file path so if you

Hi John,

I sent a PM it seemed to lose some characters so I'll try again here!

John,
Just a thought...
Looking more closely at the log extract, could it be that the windows
folder separator is "" while for Ubuntu it is "/" ?

ie for windows it's
c:\folder1\folder2\filename … etc

for ubuntu it would be equivalent to
c:/folder1/folder2/filename … etc

This sort of thing has always been an issue between windows and
unix/Linux.
The earlier part of the log shows full windows pathing but later shows
unix/Linux pathing.

To transcode, you need a working "faad" excutable in a subdirectory of
LMS Bin directory. I'm not sure whether a "faad" is built for a
Rock64.

After you have done a "cd" command and are at the Bin directory. If you
do a "ls" (small letter L, small letter S) - you have a anther
directory. The directy may depend on the arachoture of yoru system - I
don't know what a OpenVault Rock64 will be categorised. Please post the
details.

If there is only one directory, "cd" to that direetcoty - check that
directory for the folowing executables "faad", "alac", "flac", "sox" and
"wvunpack" (i.e use a "ls" command).

If "faad" is present please try the following command "./faad"

Thanks again!

So pCP is a Linux kind of OS?

In addition, I will also need a Linux version of LMS?

Are there other Linux type operating systems for the Raspberry available
or is pCP the one to go for if you want to run LMS?
Sorry, I'm a real noob here in need of having the details "fed with a
very small spoon" ;)

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS 7.8 and streaming AAC

2018-12-07 Thread Shellness

Under the retired iPlayer thread it was identified that my server was
not transcoding AAC and so my Classic and Duet were not playing Listen
Again, but my Radio was. It was suggested:

"From a shell prompt check that you can run faad and flac that are in
the LMS Bin directory (full path is given in LMS WebUI
Setting/Information Helper Application Folder). It's possible an update
has made them incompatible or maybe wrong permission."

I don't know how to do this and hacked around getting nowhere. In the
end I decided to reinstall. This didn't solve the issue. Is it
possible to tell me how to run them and what to do if they don't work,
please (I presume I'll know they don't work because iPlayer Listen Again
doesn't work)? (I can navigate to the Bin directory in PuTTY.)

NB:
FLAC files from my library play without issue.
File settings have Listen Again and On Demand as:
DASH->HLS->mp3->FlashAAC

Thanks to you, Tony T and Paul.
I will need a power supply. The prices for the bundle components minus
memory card bought separately is the same as for the bundle WITH memory
card, so even if it is a slow, cheap card it is a freebie.

BEST LMS MUSIC STORAGE?
I have an external USB hard drive and I will have to buy and set up a
NAS for network storage, probably this one:
https://www.synology.com/en-global/products/DS218j
The NAS can be connected to the Raspberry with Ethernet. Which one will
be the better to be used by LMS?

Stein

My setup is: Squeezebox Duet, Squeezebox Radio + Ipeng on phones and
tablets for control and streaming

Same 1.4GHz 64-bit quad-core processor.
As Paul said, difference is smaller size and no ethernet on the A+
Get the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+

The A+ does not have built-in ethernet - so you would have to price in
adding one as you intend to avoid using WiFi to the NAS.
A+ good for space saving but B+ is better for server duties.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Raspberry PI for LMS with network storage for PC and Mac?

2018-12-07 Thread SyrinxGC

Thanks, everyone!

Tony T: I'll have to order a Raspberry PI then. :)

Is there a lot of speed difference between the B+ and the A+?

It is not an economical question, more about the B+ being easily
available here in Norway, the A+ not yet for some reason.

If the B+ will do the job, would a bundle like this be a good solution?
It consists of:

Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+
Raspberry Pi Official Enclosure
Kingston MicroSDHC 32GB
USB power supply – 5.1V / 2.5A

The price of this bundle is about the double of buying just the B+
alone.

mherger: The Raspberry will be connected to Ethernet. I have a 3000
hours, 50.000 files library. On the laptop, it is run from a USB 3 HD.
I am not worried about scanning speeds. Scanning can be done at night,
so I doubt USB 2 speeds will bother me much.

I had a second subject to my original post - a network drive.
Is that something that can also be controlled with the Raspberry or is
it a subject I must find a solution to independent of the LMS server
question?

To complement: it has been discussed before (in 2016) - see 'here'

Maybe the need you're describing is - more or less - fulfilled by the
offline albums function in Spotify and Tidal apps? I don't know if that
function (to play selected albums from your home LMS library on your
mobile) exists in iPeng or OrangeSqueeze or any LMS control app. It may
of course, I haven't looked myself.

Perhaps ask in the 'iPeng thread'
if that function (managing and playing offline own music) is available?
