Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on multi-homed hosts
Got nowhere with the extra logging. However, I think I've made a mistake in my analysis of what the code is doing. The message "Access to CLI is restricted to the local network ..." is emitted on line 250 of CLI/Plugin.pm, but the check against isAllowedHosts won't ever happen if that message has been emitted, because the connection is closed by that point. So no, adding IP addresses to allowedHosts won't do anything for CLI clients, because the allowedHosts list isn't checked if the client already failed the ip_on_different_network test on line 248. troffasky's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70248 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113868 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on multi-homed hosts
My server has multiple NICs and LMS inevitably considers the one with a public IP [no, the internet does not have access to the LMS services] to be the "local" network, leading to the CLI interface not working from the actual LAN: [21-02-06 14:54:53.8613] Slim::Plugin::CLI::Plugin::cli_socket_accept (250) Access to CLI is restricted to the local network or localhost: 192.168.1.43 I have attempted a few different fixes without success: - Set bindAddress to the LAN IP in server.prefs. Doesn't seem to make any difference, service still listens on * rather than the specified IP. - Set allowedHosts to the LAN subnet in server.prefs. Doesn't make any difference to CLI. - Add SLIMOPTIONS="--httpaddr 192.168.1.3" to /etc/default/logitechmediaserver The only thing I've found so far that works is to down the NIC that it assumes is local, restart LMS, then up the NIC. Once the NIC is back up, the Server IP Address reported on the status page goes back to the public IP [but the CLI interface still works]. Seems like the logic here: https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/blob/public/8.2/Slim/Utils/IPDetect.pm prefers the interface with the public IP rather than the private, because the one with the public IP has the default route on it. How can I hard-code the local network, or at least hint to LMS what I want it to do? troffasky's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70248 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113868 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Player library views and random mix preferences interaction?
The employees take care of their shop and their customers. There is an audio ambiance in the store, its only logic that employees can interact with whats playing. Skipping a song or pausing music isnt quite enough. Some customers have a taste in music and sometimes have asked to listen to a particular song or artist... Not often, but it happened. I was asked to make a system that worked consistently. Not exposing the web interface would have been easy, but its never been an option to impose on the team one more system they have no control over. They have the right to control, and it has to be robust. 2 SB 3 1 PCP 6 Libratone Loop, Zipp, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113861 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Do you mean they are allowed to clear random mix playlist and add theirs selected album / song/ playlist ? Or they can only skip or choose different song from your generated playlist? If former then it seems user vs machine (programmer) problem and I don't know why library view would make a difference.. I think don't quite understand.. You would have to stop them somehow to mess everything up [emoji23].. Or train proper use.. If it really is library views which you believe causes problem then you could also segregate music with basic tags.. You can have multiple genre tags with separator of your choice, so basically you could add genre tag "safe" which would be used in 10am random mix.. This in scenario with one main library maybe could work.? . I don't know.. I think you are on the right lines there Paul. One Joggler was running Random Song Mix so different artwork with each track, and it consistently failed trying to open the fourth track. The other Joggler was streaming Greatest Hits Radio so the station logo did not change but the artist and song titles did. That one would stay working for over an hour before crashing as the buffer presumably filled up a lot slower? I redeployed my RPi from LMS to Pi-Hole and Unifi Controller duties and as I have an 'always on' PC for security cameras and Emby media server it seemed to make sense. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Player library views and random mix preferences interaction?
Ok, the real scenario is this: - A shop with multiple players and multiple shop assistants - Big library and Pi3 server, USB drive, HFS+ filesystem (dont ask) in the office. Scans and searches take a while. - The big library has 3 top folders, 2 virtual libs are created off 2 of these. - Morning at 7AM employees start coming in. A script fires. It finds available players, creates a sync group, sets the group leader to virtual lib 1, make it play random songs - Morning at 10AM customers start coming in. A script fires, puts players to sleep, re-does same as above but over a much safer library 2. - Evening 8PM the shop closes down. A script fires to put players to sleep. - Next morning 5AM, run a routine DB scan to get ready for the next day. - During the day a shop assistant may use the web interface and make manual selections. My automaton derails if Random mix was set to use a virtual lib in particular. Back to your suggestion, I could perhaps at night after the rescan create 2 huge playlists. IÂm not sure how IÂd do that programmatically. But during the day people may want to use the web interface (actually they do, thatÂs why the problem has emerged). A library view is much superior to a playlist for my scenario, in that you can interact with whatÂs playing the way you want via the web interface, only youÂre in a sandbox. Playlists are much more static. 2 SB 3 1 PCP 6 Libratone Loop, Zipp, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113861 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Player library views and random mix preferences interaction?
Don't shoot me.. Just brain storming workaround not proper solution.. :) How about: (if you libraries are not mega massive) -remove playlist limit -add all songs from a Alice library -save as playlist Alice -play with cron at time of choice and shuffle enable playlist Alice Once a while recreate playlist to include new songs or just add to playlist Like I said not proper solution but possibly workaround? 3x Squeezebox Touch, 4x Squeezebox Radio, Squeezelite (RPi 3B with HiFiBerry DAC+Pro on OSMC), Material Skin Apk, Squeeze Commander, Logitech Media Server Version: 8.2.0 with Material Skin (Docker in DS218+) Jaca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58187 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113861 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

counterpoint wrote: > That would be a pity. I'm not sure it is about sentiment. I'm just stating the logical progression based on previous developer/vendor behaviour. cdda2wav was written over 20 years ago for PC for ATAPI & SCSI interfaces - neither of which has being used in PC hardware for over 10 years. At some point the the OS developers will decide emulating "old" interfaces is not worth the effort, just like they are no longer supporting 8086 16 bit processors which was the architecture when ATAPI was created. The last minor update to cdd2wav was in 2015 and cdda2wav is no longer a maintained package in many distros. It is getting harder to buy internal/external CD/DVD/BD drives as there are fewer maker of such drives for PCs. CD drive no longer are standard with PC or laptops. CDROM (650Mb) & DVD-ROM (4.7Gb) are no longer used for backup by users - USB sticks & cloud storage are more reliable and convenient. CDs can be ripped using modern CD/DVD/BD drives with modern s/w using modern fast interface such as SATA - there is no need to stream in realtime track from a CD. However, for mainstream systems this is likely to stop at some point so be prepared. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113812 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Jaca wrote: > Maybe you could create library view containing songs from your 2 library > views and just use that new view in random mix? > Hmm I still feel I don't quite understand your goal :/ Yes youre getting closer :) thats what my script does: pick a player, set it to a library view and start random play. Alices player plays a random list of Alices songs, and same for Bob. Only that no longer works for Alice when someone fiddles with the random mix settings through the web interface and locks it to pick songs from the Songs for Bob library view. And conversely. The only way everybody stays happy is to set random mix to select from the entire database it seems. I dont know how to lock that pref, nor how to undo it via the CLI. I dont understand the scope of this pref exists in the web interface. TBH I think this is a bug. 2 SB 3 1 PCP 6 Libratone Loop, Zipp, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113861 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS killed my Jogglers!
Been running 24 hours now with no problems. Both Jogglers are running as controllers rather than players. As I earlier suspected the problem seems to be on LMS for Windows and I guess most Joggler users, being gadget's, use Linux. I wonder if any other instances of Squeezeplayer on other devices are affected? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Connect CD drive to Raspberry PI for LMS
That would be a pity. The reasons against ripping hundreds of CDs are the time taken and the fact that it is illegal in the UK to make copies of copyright material, even if you do own it in one format. It seems to me that if one has switched to operating with streaming players, each of which has its own DAC, then a CD player is a useful reserve for old CDs. But it needs to provide digital streaming rather than an analogue output, as it is obviously degrading the material if it goes through a DAC in a CD player only to be digitised again to stream. Such a CD player ought to be very simple, but it is hard to find either hardware or software to build (or buy) one neatly. counterpoint's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70641 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113812 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
